Press Release EARA Launches White Paper at COP28

29 May 2026

Just two weeks after their founding, Europe’s pioneering regenerative farmers took to the world stage, presenting their vision for a regenerated agrifood system at the Food Systems Pavilion at COP28 in Dubai.

EARA launched its inaugural White Paper, Together for Regenerative Agrifood Ecosystems, at COP28 on 1 December 2023. The publication marks EARA’s first formal contribution to the global policy conversation, a farmer-authored vision for how agrifood system governance must be reimagined to foster ecological and social regeneration at every scale.

The timing was deliberate. Barely a fortnight after constituting themselves as an alliance at Schloss Kirchberg in Southern Germany, EARA’s Founding Farmers chose COP28 as the moment to make their voice heard,  not as observers, but as practitioners with a clear, evidence-grounded agenda.

What the White Paper sets out

The paper diagnoses the structural failures of the current agrifood governance system, one that, in the face of fading ecological resilience and fragile agronomic performance, continues to over-rely on technical fixes while compounding the very feedback loops driving it towards collapse. In its place, EARA proposes a governance framework built around regeneration as its organising principle.

Clear guidance
Keystones for reimagining agrifood governance towards systemic regeneration.

Farmer-led vision
Produced by and for the practitioners closest to the land — not from the outside in.

A call to alliance
An open invitation to build consensus across all actors whose interests lie in a regenerating world.

We are inviting everyone to continue working towards practical and political changes aimed at creating communities in economic and regulatory environments conducive to on-farm and systemic health.
