EARA Apprenticeship Program

A learning journey for farmers, by farmers. Designed for individuals already committed to a future in farming and ready to take the next step toward regenerative agriculture

EARA’s Apprenticeship Program is the first of three modules that will be developed in order to provide targeted training to a diverse set of people interested in regenerative agriculture.

Farmer knowledge and education is a critical barrier and leverage to achieve a widespread regenerating transition, and EARA is well-positioned to offer specialized training thanks to a vast network of regenerating pioneers.

The program aims to scale the amount of regenerating farmers throughout Europe and it targets individuals already committed to working in, transitioning to, or starting a farm in regenerating forms of agriculture.

Regenerating soils and communities through agriculture is a journey we must undertake to build a prosperous future. However, such a shift requires profound changes, not only in how we grow food, but also in how we understand our relationship with the land and the ecosystems we are part of. This transformation inevitably begins with farmers, the people who are in daily contact with their land.

Across Europe, pioneering farmers have already begun this regeneration journey, developing new ways of living with and caring for their land. One thing is clear: they did not learn this through conventional channels. Rather, their knowledge emerges from a deep connection to the land they farm and a commitment to stewarding it for the greater good. They do not simply grow food differently, they observe, experiment, listen, learn, and develop a deep understanding of their ecosystems.

Yet each of them has had to craft their own learning path toward regeneration, as conventional education systems are not yet equipped to support this transition. Farmer knowledge and education therefore represent both a critical barrier and a powerful lever for enabling a widespread regenerative shift.

This is the gap that EARA’s Apprenticeship Program aims to fill. Built by farmers, for farmers, it is the first of three modules designed to provide targeted training to a diverse group of people interested in regenerative agriculture.

The program aims to increase the number of regenerative farmers across Europe, and is intended for individuals already committed to working in, transitioning to, or starting farms rooted in regenerative practices.

What will you learn?

On-Farm learning journey
The key part of the Program is a 3-month full-immersion learning experience on the farm of one of EARA’s pioneering farmers. Here you will gain hands-on experience and learn from a context that is well advanced in its path to regeneration.

Theoretical background
Throughout the Program you will also build the theoretical basis to understand how natural cycles work in the farm context, and how farmers engage with them on their path to regeneration. This will happen through a mix of online sessions, self-paced study, and peer-to-peer learning activities.

Personalized path
Just as no farm and its owner is equal to another, so are education needs and learning journeys. By joining the program you will be able to co-design your own learning journey, and decide how it can help you shape your future.
